Key Business Groups
Macquarie has six operating Groups within which individual business Divisions operate. The Groups specialize in defined product or market sectors and work in close cooperation. Great emphasis is placed on a client's relationship with Macquarie as a whole.
Investment Banking Group
The Investment Banking Group brings together the Bank's wholesale structuring, stockbroking, underwriting and advisory capabilities. With offices in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, North America, Europe, South Africa and the Middle East, the Group provides a depth of service including specialist capabilities in:
- project financing
- mergers and acquisitions, takeovers and corporate restructuring advice
- equity capital markets and capital management
- specialized infrastructure and specialist fund management
- specialized leasing and asset financing
- manufacture and distribution of wholesale and retail financial products
- institutional and corporate stockbroking services
- equities research
Equity Markets Group
Macquarie's Equity Markets Group offers a range of specialized investment, trading and risk management products to wholesale and private customers in Australia, Asia, Europe, Latin America and South Africa. The range includes equity linked products providing access to underlying securities traded on all the world's major stock exchanges, as well as a range of hedge funds comprising both Macquarie managed funds and selected portfolios of externally managed funds. The Group also operates the Bank's global securities lending and equity finance activities.
Treasury and Commodities Group
The Treasury and Commodities Group encompasses:
- commodity and commodity derivatives structuring and trading
- commodity (metals, bullion and agricultural) and energy finance
- the Bank's own treasury operation
- futures (listed derivatives) execution and clearing
- debt arrangement, structuring and placement activities
- interest rate and credit derivatives structuring and trading
- foreign exchange trading and structuring
Banking and Property Group
Macquarie's Banking and Property Group have businesses in Australia, USA, Asia and Europe and provides a range of innovative banking and property-related services including:
- tailored banking services for businesses and professionals
- property funds management - Macquarie Property and its associates have more than $16 billion in property assets under management through eight listed and 10 unlisted property trusts and wholesale development funds globally
- lending services for property developers and major investors
- wholesale property investment management, capital raising, debt/transaction structuring, major project financing, property developments and asset disposals
- management of institutional investment funds and participation in joint ventures, foreign sponsored REIT listings, listed and private equity fund management
- mortgages
- margin lending
Funds Management Group
The Funds Management Group is Macquarie's funds management arm. It:
- manages funds across a wide range of asset classes including cash, fixed income, currency property, equities, infrastructure and private equity
- is one of the largest fund managers in Australia and has offices located in Australia, Korea, Hong Kong and US.
- manages funds on behalf of corporations, superannuation funds and individuals.
- participates in international funds management joint ventures, with recent successes in Korea and Malaysia.
- is a leader in developing innovative products to give clients access to new sectors.
- pioneered a range of True Index funds to guarantee clients the exact return of the index for no management fees.
Financial Services Group
The group consists of two key Australasian-based divisions, Macquarie Adviser Services and Macquarie Financial Services, which together service almost 650,000 clients. In addition, the Group has a team focused on exploring other international investment and distribution opportunities.
Macquarie Adviser Services manages relationships with external financial intermediaries and provides sales service and product management of in-house and external products including retail superannuation.
Macquarie Financial Services relationships with approximately 232,000 clients. Services include:
- full-service stockbroking and investment planning
- online stockbroking
- strategic financial planning
- executive wealth management
- private banking
- private portfolio management
