Job description
This is a key role within the US Reporting and Accounting Policy group at Virgin Media. You will be the key point of contact across all divisions of the business for accounting policy related matters; this can include everything from group wide disclosures matters to accounting treatment on commercial contracts. This is a highly visible role where you will be expected to design and implement training tools for the business and to educate members of the finance community. Specific responsibilities include:
" Taking responsibility as the primary point of contact for divisional controllers and members of commercial finance to educate them on accounting matters and advise on disclosures and reporting requirements.
" Being at the forefront of the business on the latest technical releases, assessing the impact on the business and how best to implement them.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to genuinely affect progress within the business as well as being noticed by the senior management of the company. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the core of an established and innovative player in the telecommunications market.
Who we are looking for
Virgin Media are looking for a talented CPA qualified candidate who is interested in relocating to the United Kingdom to take on responsibility within the U.S. reporting team. This is an exciting challenge for the successful applicant to really drive through change within this dynamic and successful business. Upon starting you will have a range of challenges from reviewing and updating current US accounting treatment to developing a training framework for use across the company. You will need to have the ability to take a high level view of the company as well as understanding the detail when required.
You will be:
(i) technically savvy with a firm grasp of US GAAP accounting principles
(ii) proactive and a catalyst for change within the business
(iii) ambitious and career focused
