Job description
The FIS Director is the system administrator who manages Safe Horizon's Financial Accounting software application (FundWare) and other Finance and Human Resources applications (Ceridian, Restitution, HRIS). The Director must be expert in extracting data from accounting and HRIS systems and developing financial reports for Finance, Human Resources, and Program staff. Among the other responsibilities are to:
Perform the end of the month-end and year-end closing processes.
Assist the accounting staff with the preparation of cost reports.
Maintain chart of accounts.
Maintain list of grants.
Prepare monthly report for Development department.
Oversee the upload & download of information into/from to the general ledger application.
Assist the Controller in maintaining the integrity of the Finance department's accounting software application.
Assist with the Agency's annual audit by preparing schedule and making audit adjustment entries etc.
Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and mid-year budget modifications.
Prepare the fixed assets register.
Provide access for new staff members to the accounting system and train new staff members in using the system.
Serve as the resource person in Finance for training other staff to perform advanced functions in Microsoft Excel and Access.
Set up new grant budget lines in our general ledger application.
Create and maintain accounts, data items and attributes in accounting system.
Assist in selecting and implementing new software applications as well as preparing for and implementing software upgrades.
Who we are looking for
A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting plus a minimum of four years relevant experience is required. Experience with FundWare or equivalent nonprofit general ledger software is essential as is proficiency in extracting date from the general ledger and analyzing the data using a report writer such as Crystal Reports as well as Microsoft Excel and Access
