One of New York's most prestine media agencies is seeking an Accounting Manager.

Job Description

  • Responsible for the monthly close, including the accurate preparation of the balance sheet, income statement and trial balance
  • Prepare and/or review monthly analysis of key financial accounts on a timely basis
  • Supervise and mentor Senior and/or Staff Accountants and Accounts Payable Manager
  • Prepare and/or review monthly journal entries and reconciliations prepared by team (standards, accruals)
  • Identify and investigate fluctuations in financial information, working with business unit personnel as needed
  • Research unusual transactions, bring inconsistencies and problems to the attention of management as required
  • Participate in both external and internal annual and quarter-end audits
  • Prepare quarterly board decks and earnings release
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis
  • Ensure that all journal entries are properly supported and approved
  • Work closely and ensure open communication with FP&A team regarding operating budgets and forecasts
  • Manage implementation process of Company T&E software

The Successful Applicant

Ideal Accounting Manager candidate will have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 4 -6 years of progressive experience in accounting
  • Demonstrated success working both individually and with a team in a fast-paced, high volume, deadline oriented environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
  • Knowledge of accounting software is preferred (Microsoft Dynamics - Great Plains)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in order to deal effectively with a variety of interpersonal relationships and situations
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (i.e., pivot tables, VLookups, etc.)
  • Self-starter and able to quickly learn new responsibilities
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Detail oriented with the ability to investigate and resolve problems
  • Good planning and communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a high performing team
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions
