Multi-program family oriented health and human service agency whose primary mission is to prevent family disintegration and enhance the self-sufficiency of the Latino community.

Job Description

  1. Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.
  2. Supervise accounting department staff of five.
  3. Review monthly financial statements and variance reports by programs.
  4. Assist Director of Finance in the preparation of the agency budget.
  5. Train program leaders on budget development and management; partner with program leaders on budget development and revision.
  6. Analyze program budgets and prepare budget modifications when necessary.
  7. Prepare daily cash reports and monthly board of directors' financial reports.
  8. Assist in managing all fiscal audits.
  9. Prepare and submit Consolidated Financial Report (CFR).
  10. Review and approve accounts payable vouchers, journal entries, credit memos, bank reconciliations, funding source vouchers, and audit schedules.
  11. Analyze Medicaid, Medicare, Third Party, and Grant Receivables and aging report.
  12. Ensure compliance with PRFI fiscal policy and procedures. Assist with updating and modifying fiscal policy and procedures as needed.
  13. Process payroll when Payroll Accountant is not available.
  14. Special projects as deemed necessary by the Director of Finance.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Demonstrated strong supervisory and leadership experience in an accounting department.
  • Five or more years' experience in non-profit accounting.
  • Experience with New York City, New York State and Federal grants, Head Start, Universal Pre-Kindergarten, Medicaid, Medicare, and third party insurances, and/or New York State Office with People of Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Proficiency in MIP Accounting Software and ADP payroll is a plus.
