About Our Client

My client is an early-stage venture capital firm based in Newport Beach, CA. This company is made up of experienced investment professionals, committed to working with entrepreneurs to build great companies that address unmet needs in the marketplace. In addition to providing capital, my client leverages broad industry knowledge, relationships and investment experience to complement the strengths of the entrepreneur. Typical investments range between $1 million to $5 million, with additional capital available to support future expansion.

Job Description

  • Obtaining and maintaining a thorough understanding of the general ledger structure
  • Ensuring an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
  • Collaborating with other Accounting managers to support overall department goals and objectives
  • Monitoring and analyzing department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources
  • Advising team members regarding the handling of non-routine transactions
  • Responding to inquiries regarding financial results, special reporting requests, etc.
  • Working with the controller to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit
  • Supervising the general ledger group to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met
  • Providing training to new and existing team members as necessary
  • Handling team member issues relating to performance or the like
  • Working with team members individually to establish goals and objectives for each year, monitoring and advising on the progress to enhance the professional development of the team
  • Supporting the controller with special projects and workflow process improvements
  • Other duties as assigned

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Highly proficient with QuickBooks.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Experience with Concur.
  • Must be detail conscious and able to work in a multi-tasking environment.
  • High level of discretion and ability to maintain a strict degree of confidentiality with all company matters
