Our Client, located in California, was established for now 25 years, they have been America's #1 importer of Basmati rice.

Their authentic, premium quality products from around the world include Basmati Rice from India, Jasmine Rice from Thailand, Grape Seed Oil from Spain, and Tea from Sri Lanka. Our Client has rapidly evolved from a distributor of rice to a full-fledged "farm-to-fork" enterprise with comprehensive traceability responsibility. Because of our close partnership and with our parent company, they have been able to extend and intensify their direct involvement in the total production process, from seed (agricultural production) to bag (packing & shipment).

Our Client is fully integrated in each and every aspect of the procurement process, giving them unprecedented access and follow-through.

Their supply chain can be traced from origination via seed coding, crop monitoring, and harvesting through procurement, transfer and shipment. Recognizing the importance of their supplier partners in ensuring quality control has been key to their success.

Job Description

  • Accountable for sales of new & existing items, category reviews, strategic volume and promotional planning, sales goals, budget adherence, and execution of sales/marketing initiatives.
  • Identify brand/category development opportunities, communicate and resolve account issues/solutions through sales/marketing management team.
  • Develop and maintain annual forecasts/bottom up plans, marketing/promotional initiatives, sales/promotional history and promotional spending which deliver incremental sales by working closely with regional brokers and internal sales development team.
  • Implement and monitor retail pricing, distribution, shelving, and promotion strategies.
  • Develop annual/quarterly business plans with key customers.
  • Create and implement sales and marketing plans that target specific demographic opportunities among consumer segments which leverage Regional market penetration.
  • Be an expert in the category dynamics for all categories in which we compete.
  • Work with internal category management and broker partners to develop account specific category management, brand development, and category review presentations.
  • Establish and build relationships with accounts multi-level senior managers, category managers, and various other personnel that will positively impact our client's business development.
  • Effectively manage trade spending, deductions, and credit management by working closely with Finance and Customer Service.
  • Must demonstrate leadership qualities.
  • Reviews and analyzes information such as item movement, SKU assortment, and syndicated customer data to make strategic business building recommendations.
  • Maintain positive and close relationship with all customers, distributors and brokers.
  • The ability to travel 60% of schedule is required.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in business/economics or marketing. *
  • 5+ years of experience in managing Brokers and Regional Accounts; conventional retail customers and Natural/Organic customers (Whole Foods, Sprouts, etc.) plus working with distributors (UNFI, KeHE, DPI, etc.)
  • Strong distributor business background is a plus, along with a history of working with Organic products. * Category management roles in the CPG Food industry.
  • Strong understanding of syndicated data and interpretation; excellent knowledge of Nielsen, IRI, and category management.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Power Point).
  • Strong analytical, written and interpersonal skills.
