Job Description

The Assistant Controller will report directly to the Controller/CFO. This position will have overall responsibilities of accounting operation including the following specific duties:

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures related to preparing consolidated financial statements which include subsidiaries in the United States, Mexico, Germany, and United Kingdom.
  • Ensure compliance with primary lender financial covenants.
  • Coordinate quarterly audit process.
  • Supervise one cost accountant; responsible for updating standard costs for 40,000 items on a timely basis.
  • Report inventory and manufacturing variances to management.
  • Assist CFO and other operation groups in special projects such as annual budgeting, inventory analysis, cost reduction, as well as daily interaction with other operation groups to achieve a common goal.
  • Prepare financial information as required for Annual Report and SEC filings (10Q and 10K).
  • Value and track stock-based compensation.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports timely and accurately.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will have a minimum three years of experience in SEC reporting, manufacturing, multi-currency translation accounting, and consolidation of entities.


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance. CPA certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and a background in daily accounting operations and cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow, with an understanding of how transactions flow through each statement.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required (building Excel reports, pivot tables, vlookup, and other advanced functions); experience with Microsoft Access preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Standard Costing experience required.


  • Candidate should be eager to learn, able to work independently, and be a self-starter and proactive in managing daily accounting activities.
  • Strong organizational skills required, as well as the capability to multitask efficiently.
  • High energy and results-oriented with strong personal drive and the ability to effectively meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Assertive; comfortable expressing opinions to senior management.
