Job Description

The Benefits Manager will specifically responsible for:

  • Leading and executing employee compensation and benefit programs with a focus on retirement plans including 401(k) and pensions

  • Reporting and wire transfers of retirement plan contributions

  • Management of all distribution forms, plan document work, 5500 filings, non-discrimination testing, and required mandatory mailings for 401(k) and other benefit plans

  • Reviews policy documents for ERISA compliance

  • Oversees SOX and other year-end audits for all retirement and benefits plans

  • Partners closely with employees, managers, Payroll, HR, Finance, and third-party service providers to ensure that information and services are of excellent quality and available in a timely manner

  • Provides subject-matter expertise on benefit and compensation plan designs, relevant regulations, internal policies and procedures, external benchmarks, etc.

  • Assists in the planning, implementation, and communication of benefits annual enrollment

  • Recommends and implements changes to programs, processes, and/or systems based on business needs and external trends

  • Assists in HRIS management activities including service provider management, establishing requirements and contracts, and ensuring the right tools and information are available to meet business needs

  • Provides education and training to ensure employees understand the value of, and how to best utilize, the company-provided benefits package

The Successful Applicant

Qualifications of Benefits Manager:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field

  • 7-10 years of relevant work experience

  • Sound business/financial acumen to analyze workforce, benefits, and compensation data, identify trends, and initiate appropriate actions

  • Contemporary knowledge of benefit and broad-based compensation program designs, trends, and applicable regulations (e.g. ERISA, IRS, EEO, HIPAA, ACA, etc.)

  • Demonstrated proficiency leveraging HRIS, ADP
  • Management experience
  • Exposure to Canada and Mexico employment practices and benefits programs
