Job Description

The Compensation and Benefits Manager will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and oversight of all benefit and compensations plans to ensure that policies, procedures, and programs are legally compliant to support the strategic objectives and competitive practices of the organization. The Compensation & Benefits Manager will have the following day to day responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and manage the benefit programs, including plan design, vendor relationships, and benefit cost tracking to provide a competitive program of benefit options.
  • Prepare benefit plan modifications to solicit bids from vendors. Evaluate quotes and prepare cost analysis to make recommendations to management for change implementations based on cost containment and marketplace competitiveness.
  • Implement health and welfare programs and communicate changes via preparation of announcement material, booklets, PowerPoint presentations, etc. either solely or jointly with vendors and legal counsel. Coordinate all open enrollment and rollout activities across the organization, conducting employee training sessions in various formats to include classroom, webinars, etc.
  • Manage and supervise the leave of absence programs to ensure compliance with ADA/ADAA, FMLA, and HIPAA.
  • Provide guidance to leadership on interpretation of policies related to absence management and provide ongoing leave of absence training to leadership.
  • Work with multiple Third Party Administrators to appropriately address issues or concerns.
  • Conduct Annual enrollment, New Hire Benefit Orientation, other misc. benefit meetings as needed
  • Coordinate Health and Welfare 5500 filings and summary annual reports (SARS) and ACA reporting.
  • Manage daily operations and administration of U.S. Domestic Relocation Program.
  • Audit, analyze and compare survey data, salary evaluations, and needs analysis to monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation policies. Make recommendations for plan revisions to maintain compliance and cost effectiveness based on competitive trends and corporate objectives.
  • Design and implement salary administration, job evaluation and performance management systems.
  • Manage the administration of the compensation programs to include exempt, non-exempt,merit rewards initiatives, performance management, and bonus programs.
  • Audit, analyze and compare survey data, salary evaluations, and needs analysis to monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation policies. Make recommendations for plan revisions to maintain compliance and cost effectiveness based on competitive trends and corporate objectives
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws as well as organizational policies
  • Develop, maintain, and complete management reports and statistical information. Generate standard and ad hoc reports weekly, monthly, quarterly, and as requested for management use.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned by leadership

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field or equivalent experience required
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS), Certified Benefits Professional (CBP), or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred
  • 5+ years of Compensation and Benefits experience including at least 3 in a supervisory capacity
  • Knowledge of compensation theories and benefit plan design
  • Experience in administration of all benefit plans and programs including medical, dental, vision, life (Basic & Supplemental), AD&D, Short Term Disability, Flexible Spending, Employee Assistance (EAP), Retirement Plans (401k), as well as PTO and employee discount programs
  • Advance knowledge of benefit laws and regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA
  • Has had direct involvement in the oversight of the annual benefit renewal and request for proposal (RFP) process, recommendations for benefit plan modifications to provide cost savings and employee satisfaction
  • Project Lead for open enrollment process by creating and implementing a project plan, delegating tasks and creating open enrollment documents and employee communication materials
  • Strong knowledge of total rewards and benefit plan design
  • Advance knowledge of benefit laws and regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA
  • Strong knowledge of high deductible health plans (HDHPs), Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRAs)
  • Strong knowledge of self-insured health plans
  • Communication skill set should include the ability to negotiate, persuade, educate, inform, and convince
  • Strong business acumen, including strong analytical skills and the ability to present complex data in a clear and compelling manner
  • Strategic planning, project management, problem solving and focus on results
  • Demonstrate a collaborative work style with the ability to build productive relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and maintain confidential information with great sensitivity
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meeting multiple and conflicting deadlines
