About Our Client

Our client is a top tier supplier of specialized manufacturing with a presence across North America and Europe. They are looking for an experienced cost accountant to play a key role in their finance and accounting function, making sure that they reach their goal of double-digit growth over the next year.

Job Description


  • Monitor control procedures (Item Costs, Bills of Material, Routings)
  • Provide accurate costing data for sales/engineering teams.
  • Perform current cost roll-up and standard cost updates throughout the year and annually
  • Analyze manufacturing variances from standard cost and report on the impact of those variances (both projected and historical)
  • Prepare the monthly inventory valuation schedule and reconcile to the general ledger
  • Provide Gross Profit analysis and trending
  • Report the results of the cycle count programs
  • Investigate and report on inventory adjustments. Book journal entries, as needed, for month-end close
  • Complete inventory account reconciliations monthly
  • Assist in the annual audits, both internal and external, as required
  • Perform other functions and projects not specifically listed above, but required by management directive to support Company goals.

The Successful Applicant


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Current or recent experience as cost accountant preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree and CPA or CMA qualifications would be an advantage
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products, in particular MS Excel
  • Experience with an ERP system in a Manufacturing environment - JD Edwards EnterpriseOne is a plus
  • Experience with project costing and operations management reporting
  • Significant exposure to various levels of inventory analysis and manufacturing variance reporting.
  • Sound understanding of bills of material, routings, and standard cost elements
  • Sound judgment, decision making, and analytical skills
  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability to work well with others
  • Adaptable to change and willingness to learn and handle new or evolving assignments
  • Results oriented with an ability to work independently towards deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills using the English language (written and verbal)
  • Works well independently requiring minimal supervision
  • Takes ownership of responsibilities and demonstrates pride in their work
  • Ability to rationalize and apply common sense to reported outcomes
