Our client is a 70+ year old family-owned CPG company that prides itself on employee and customer satisfaction. Our client is located just north of Chicago and have experienced solid growth the past few years. They have around 25,000 SKUs, which includes a mix of products that are manufactured in-house, assembled in-house, as well as purchased finished products.

Job Description

The Director of Procurement & Supply Chain is responsible for the strategy, management and replenishment of inventory to meet sales, margin, inventory turns and service objectives of our customers. This includes developing strategies and tactics to be used along with systems configuration and execution to achieve Company goals. The Director of Procurement & Supply Chain will have primary day-to-day responsibility for enhancing the supply chain infrastructure, negotiating and purchasing from vendors, overseeing products to be manufactured by the Company and improving upon SOPs and KPIs across all aspect of the supply chain.

The Director of Procurement & Supply Chain will be responsible for:

  • Managing supplier selection, management, performance evaluation, negotiation, contract management, and day-to-day purchasing
  • Production planning, S&OP/demand/supply planning
  • Maintaining optimal inventory levels
  • Supporting Make vs. Buy decisions for new products
  • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Manufacturing, Distribution Centers, Legal, Accounting/Finance, Customer Service and R&D
  • Reporting of financial and operational performance to Company executives

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree required (Bachelor's Degree in supply chain management, business or related field highly preferred)
  • 10+ years of total Procurement and/or Supply Chain experience
  • 3+ years of experience directly managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing a team
  • 2+ years of experience planning, developing, and managing departmental expense and capital budgets
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and ERP systems (NetSuite a plus)
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, analytical, writing, communication, organizational, and modeling skills.
