About Our Client

Our client for the Director of Sales - Americas opportunity is a global manufacturer of scientific instruments used for material analysis serving customers in government, academic, commercial for applications in materials, electronics, and life sciences. Global headquarters are in based in Europe, with the US office based in the Midwest. The parent company is publicly traded on the NYSE and is a global manufacturer of electronic instruments with revenues over $3 billion.

Job Description

The Director of Sales - Americas will be in charge of growing sales and revenues in North and South America guiding a team of regional managers located across the Americas. The Director of Sales will also be in charge of the inside sales team as well as field service engineers. Overall responsibilities will be to guide the execution of the sales strategy with the regional managers, but this person will also have some direct customer accounts he/she will be in charge of as well. Due to the growth of the organization a new building for headquarters will soon be underway for construction. 40-60% travel will be required across North and South America, with occasional travel to Europe to the global headquarters.

  • Execute and deliver on sales strategy and objectives from Sr. Management and General Manager
  • Manage, direct, and guide Regional Managers on sales strategies, approach, expectations to achieve sales targets and growth
  • Manage key accounts and develop new strategic accounts through new business development
  • Prioritize customers and projects with regional managers to establish sales forecast and pipeline
  • Execute a process oriented sales strategy to track data and sales activity
  • Communicate with Inside Sales and Regional Managers on product training as necessary
  • Travel 40-60% through North and South America, occasional international travel to Europe

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field (Engineering degree preferred - Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Physics)
  • 7-10 years of experience in a technical field sales within instrumentation and/or life sciences
  • 5 years of sales management experience leading a sales team of 5 or more
  • Proven experience training, mentoring, and development a sales force
  • Proven sales track record selling technical products and systems
  • Strong mathematical skills with ability to apply concepts into practical situations
  • Highly motivated with a strong sense of work ethic and drive to succeed
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen and negotiation skills
  • Strong ability to multi-task and highly organized
