Job Description

  • Assemble, install, test & repair electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, apparatus & fixtures using power and hand tools.
  • Diagnosis malfunctioning systems, apparatus & components using test equipment & hand tools to locate the cause and correct the problem.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment & components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair and ensure compliance with codes.

  • Maintain current electrician's license
  • Plan, layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment & fixtures based on job specifications & codes.
  • Direct & train workers to install, maintain & repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.
  • Prepare sketches or follow plans (prints) to determine the location of wiring & equipment and to ensure compliance with building & safety codes.
  • Perform business management duties such as maintaining records & files, prepare reports and ordering supplies and equipment.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and lift equipment.
  • Perform physically challenging tasks such as moving heavy objects.

  • Installation - Installing equipment & wiring to meet specifications
  • Active listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Reading comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Troubleshooting - Determining causes of malfunction and deciding what to do about it.
  • Judgment and Decision making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others effectively.
  • Mathematics - Using mathematics to solve problems.
  • Active learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current & future problem solving & decision making.
  • Hold a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

Ability Requirements

  • Walk, stand, climb, bend, stretch, twist, reach, lift and carry loads up to 50 lbs.
  • Finger dexterity - The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers on one or both hands to grasp, manipulate r assemble very small objects.
  • Near Vision - Tha ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
  • Deductive Reasoning - The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Oral comprehension - The ability to listen to and understand information & ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
