About Our Client

Michael Page are currently working alongside a Hotel and Property Management investment firm who are currently seeking a fixed Asset and Accounting professional to join their tea, in Austin Texas. This publicly traded real estate investment trust are looking to continue upon recent expansion by adding additional resources to the finance and accounting team.

Responsible for the maintaining the fixed asset, sub ledgers and managing over the balance sheet account reconciliations this is a fantastic opportunity for a highly experienced Fixed Asset Accountant to join the growing team in a senior positions.

Job Description

Alongside being responsible for the Sub ledger, Fixed Asset Management and account reconciliations the successful fixed asset accountant will be managed all asset transactions including construction in process, capitalization and depreciation for book and tax purposes - in accordance and compliant with tax regulations. Alongside this your roles and responsiblities will include but not be limited to:

  • Reviewing of account payable batches
  • ensure SOX processes are defined and properly adhered to.
  • Perform month end analysis and reconcile fixed assets general ledger to sub ledger
  • Conduct periodic impairment reviews and physical inventory costs
  • Create and monitor system of controls, procedures and forms analyzing and maintaining all records of fixed assets, associated costs.
  • Ensure fixed asset capitalization policy is followed
  • Manage and communicate fixed asset capitalization decisions with internal stakeholders including; Asset managers Property Managers and Senior management teams.

The Successful Applicant

the successful Fixed Asset Accountant will have a significant background in asset accountancy and have fundamental knowledge of accounting concepts, depreciation fixed asset transfers and fixed asset addition and disposals.

Alongside this the successful candidate must have:

  • BA in Accounting
  • Min 4 years Accounting experience or property management and / or fixed asset accounting (preferable)
  • Knowledge of FAS Systems or fixed asset tracking systems
  • Strong excel, forecasting and asset management capabilities.
  • Understanding of tax concepts including property taxes and tax depreciation
  • Understanding of internal controls over financial reporting and SOX
