About Our Client

Civil, environmental, and geotechnical engineering firm in the Southeast, celebrating our 30th Anniversary this year. As we continue to grow, we are seeking experienced Geotechnical Engineers to join our Wilmington and Raleigh, North Carolina offices to support projects involving civil site development, NCDOT bridges and roadways, commercial and industrial development, and various Department of Defense (DoD) projects.

Job Description

Overseeing subsurface investigations including SPT, CPT, DMT, DCP, and test pits at various sites throughout the Southeast

Reviewing and assigning geotechnical samples for laboratory testing

Assembling geotechnical data using software including Microsoft Excel, Word, gINT, ConePlot, and WinDMT

Performing geotechnical analyses for various parameters including bearing capacity, slope stability, seepage, settlement, shallow and deep foundations (axial, uplift, lateral capacities), pavement design, dewatering, lateral earth pressures, and seismic/liquefaction analyses

Utilization of various geotechnical software programs and design standards including AASHTO LRFD, DRIVEN, LPILE, GRLWeap, STABL, StedWIN, CPeT-IT, CLiq, PCASE, and FAARFIELD.

Preparation of geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations

Assistance with preparation of construction plans and project specifications (i.e. earthwork, excavation and fill, deep foundations, etc.)

Periodic site visits and review of construction submittals to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction standards

Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation

The Successful Applicant

Preferred qualifications include:

Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related experience

Business development experience

Geotechnical engineering experience in the Coastal Plain

OSHA HAZWOPER training



Minimum requirements include:

Bachelors Degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering or related engineering field

Professional Engineer's License in NC or ability to obtain license in NC

At least 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering

Ability to obtain DoD military base access

Demonstrated professional and technical verbal and written communication skills
