Job Description

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Category Manager to join their industry leading company leading CAPEX category management. Overall, the person in this role is responsible for the strategic sourcing of materials & equipment to support site/plant procurement requirements. This includes source selection, supplier relationships, cost reduction negotiation, delivery and quality performance. This Senior Category Manager is tasked with leadership role in all facets procurement from strategic sourcing through project execution. The Senior Procurement Manager is required to manage issuing of RFQ's, quote analysis, supplier selection, and conducting market studies of commodity items. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop the Procurement organizations' strategy for global engineering and technical plant services with emphasis on identification of cost reduction opportunities, budget development/maintenance and procurement process improvements.
  • Direct supplier selection, negotiate and interpret contracts between the company and CapEx suppliers.
  • Meet or exceed profit plan goals related to commodities including: cost savings, low cost country sourcing, quality, supplier rationalization, etc.
  • Lead CapEx sourcing activities in coordination with operations and engineering to drive a competitive advantage for the company. Develop, coordinate and steer purchasing strategies for CapEx.
  • Demonstrate accountability for functional, business and broad company objectives. Integrate and support development of processes that meet business needs across the organization for specific commodity responsibility. Involved in long term strategic planning. This role contributes to the overall strategy and manages complex issues within functional areas of expertise.
  • Provide for the evaluation of supplier quotations utilizing appropriate negotiation and procurement analysis techniques and implementation of proper contracts with emphasis on quality, price, delivery, and service necessary to meet requirements.
  • Support efforts concerning supply base rationalization and supplier development.

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Procurement/Purchasing, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related technical field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 5-10+ years in multi-site/multi-plant manufacturing environment preferred.
  • LEAN Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and/or project management experience preferred; Strong Project Execution a must.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Ability to empower others to achieve results through motivation, recognition and performance feedback
  • Be recognized as subject matter experts (SME) of their commodity
  • Must be able to work at strategic level and if requested tactical (hands-on)
