Job Description

The Construction Manager will plan, execute, and finalize field construction projects across three plants for our client. The projects will NOT run simultaneously and all three upgrade projects are planned to take up to 6 years to complete. Selected responsibilities:

Acquire resources and coordinate the efforts of the team members and third-party contractors in order to deliver projects according to plan

Define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle

Oversee construction management and field supervision from project development through commissioning and start up

Provide, supervision, inspection and review of construction activities to minimize impacts on operating facilities and to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company safety and environmental policies, project scope and constraints, and applicable industry standards

Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path while planning, scheduling and tracking project time-lines and milestones

Negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with contractors, consultants, suppliers and others

Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements, documentation and presentations

Study job plans and specifications to determine appropriate construction methods

Prepare requisitions for supplies, materials and labor to complete construction activities

Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress/cost tracking reports

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor degree in Construction Management or related Engineering discipline OR comparable experience
  • 5+ years experience in Industrial construction. Plant upgrade projects a plus
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, applicable construction codes, standards, regulations and familiarity with the construction and environmental permitting process
  • Knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in the construction and maintenance of chemical processing plants
  • Experience in tracking and forecasting construction spending by contractor discipline
  • Knowledge of preparation and use of plan, elevation and isometric construction drawings
  • Proficient with the PC and PC-network applications including Microsoft Project and/or Primavera
