Job Description

The Analyst coordinates with external counterparts, credit, banks, internal operations and management to ensure the timely receipt, issuance and closure of L/Cs and other forms of collateral for efficient transaction settlement and credit coverage. Communicate with issuing, advising and confirming banks to successfully negotiate L/Cs and review documents against L/C for accuracy to ensure strict compliance with the L/C and underlying deal contract terms. The Analyst also assists in monitoring the company's settlement exposure to its counterparties as part of the L/C process.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the status of L/C and title document tracking and monitoring systems, while ensuring timely and accurate L/C issuances, receipts, amendments and cancellations.
  • Assist in reviewing, evaluating and negotiating L/C terms and conditions with counterparts and banks to ensure compliance with internal policies and business requirements.
  • Assist in coordinating daily Letter of Credit activities relating to L/C and collateral requirements with Credit, Operations and Trade Finance.
  • Assist Credit in monitoring credit exposure to customers and countries, including reviewing net accounts receivable/accounts payable exposure and mark-to-market exposure
  • Maintain orderly files of L/C documentation and produce periodic bank and management reports
  • Reconcile issued L/Cs and associated fees with syndicate banks.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or Accounting
  • 1+ years of L/C, Trade Finance, or equivalent operational experience, preferable in the credit, trade finance, or finance department of a commodity trading firm, commercial bank, or similar f
  • Knowledge and relevant utilization of the International Chamber of Commerce Rules and Regulations governing trade finance products, ISP 98 and UCP 600.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a number of detail oriented transactions under firm deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to analyze complex documents and report findings to management
  • Ability to follow through, seek help when necessary and alert management as needed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to write clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work in a trading culture and communicate effectively with banks, credit and operations
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel - including pivot tables, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Familiarity with Commodity XL ETRM and Triple Point Technology, Inc.'s Credit Risk and monitoring system a plus
