Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead the manufacturing engineering team to achieve optimal levels of performance by way of open communication, involvement, empowerment and accountability.
  • Ensure manufacturing engineering activities, policies, processes and procedures are consistently focused on the highest standards of quality, continual improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide manufacturing and technical representation on Product Development Teams to ensure new product manufacturability and support successful market introductions.
  • Lead, manage and oversee new product prototype, pilot and pre-production builds.
  • Collaborate with Product Development Teams to support successful market introductions.
  • Develop, evaluate and report in-depth and detailed cost and performance analysis for key production indicators.
  • Identify and put into action key programs or projects that target specific improvement opportunities to reduce costs and lead times, resolve quality issues or increase supply dependability and flexibility. Ensure achievement of planned results.
  • Aggressively and proactively ensure, lead, manage and oversee the rapid response and successful resolution of manufacturing engineering issues in order to minimize or eliminate the potential shutting down of production lines.
  • Develop, evaluate and report in-depth and detailed cost, design and performance analysis for key manufacturing engineering performance indicators.
  • Identify and put into action key programs or projects and product improvements and/or redesigns that target specific improvement opportunities to reduce costs and lead times, resolve quality issues, or increase supply dependability and flexibility. Ensure achievement of planned results.
  • Oversee manufacturing engineering technical approval of all product line processes, product changes and/or product improvements.

The Successful Applicant

The preferred candidate for the Manufacturing Engineering Manager will have the following skills and background:

  • Manage Manufacturing Engineering Department consisting of Manufacturing Engineers and Test Engineers
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering: Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Technology (Electrical Engineering degree will be considered - Master's degree highly desirable)
  • Working experience as a Manufacturing/Process Engineer or Continuous Improvement/LEAN Champion
  • Experience in launching new products (NPI), value engineering, quality and process improvement programs.
  • Experience in project management and efficient in prioritizing projects based on resource availability
  • Strong LEAN background & cost savings focus in manufacturing & transactional environments.
  • Someone who is ambitious and energetic to grow into a Director of Manufacturing position within the next 2-3 years.
  • Good communicator with the ability to influence and persuade across technical levels of the organization as well as with suppliers, exercising appropriate tact and diplomacy to accomplish objectives.
