About Our Client

My client is a tier 1 global Investment Bank located in Midtown Manhattan. The Fixed Income Product Controller sits within Middle Office & Operations. The main responsibilities will be doing P&L/PAA Reporting for the Fixed Income line of business, specifically the MBS desk. This includes daily P&L and Profit Attribution Processes reporting, monthly analysis and ad-hoc reporting.

Job Description

  • Provide coverage of daily P&L and Profit Attribution activities as required
  • Act as back-up coverage of production processes in the event of absence
  • Perform Front-Office to Back-Office reconciliations
  • Review for large fluctuations, write commentaries, and bring to Management's attention
  • Process and/or fulfill reconciliation activities and/or other activities in accordance with established priorities and deadlines on a timely, accurate and efficient basis.
  • Resolve discrepancies/ exceptions that deal with non-routine situations, referred from other team members
  • Ensure that new products are set up correctly in the P&L tracking process
  • Coordinate with legal entity and regulatory accounting, risk, operations, and other support groups
  • Have an understanding of product related balance sheet and income statement line items
  • Gain a working knowledge of the trade flow process from inception to G/L
  • Develop an understanding of the G/L's and settlement systems (ICI, GMI, Coda/Hyperion, MRP & Progress)
  • Ensure correct bookings in the general ledger
  • As appropriate, reconcile and/or coordinate all general ledger postings for product related activity (ex. balance sheet, revenue)
  • Prepare Book-to-Reported Reconciliations as part of month-end close
  • Create and update monthly analysis with regard to key business drivers
  • Prepare commentary and standard period over period analysis
  • Identify potential risk situations/ impacts, and make recommendations or escalate to the manager

The Successful Applicant

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting or Finance (or related)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience related experience
  • Knowledge of Fixed Income and Fixed Income Derivatives (MBS a plus)
  • Knowledge of ICI/Impact a plus
  • Strong knowledge of the brokerage industry
  • Excellent Excel skills (Knowledge of VBA macro development a plus)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines, without compromising data integrity
