Job Description

The Procurement Manager will be responsible to support sourcing and procurement in specific areas within contract manufacturing and packaging. The Procurement Manager will ensure that Global Procurement provides timely, high quality and customer focused services. The Procurement Manager will continuously monitor the supply market and identify opportunities resulting from new technology, product offering and/or market shifts.

Day to day Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain business relationships with Contract Manufacturers and Contract Packers responsible for manufacturing company products.
  • Negotiate all aspects of supply agreements appropriate for the business relationship; Confidentiality Agreements, Purchase Order terms, Development Agreements and long term Supply Agreements.
  • Development and implement sourcing strategies to support current and future business growth opportunities.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Product Development to identify and source innovative products and drive "speed to market".
  • Establish and report Key Performance Indicators for contract manufacturers on cost, quality and service
  • Benchmark key competitive set in the food and dietary supplement industries for new technologies and cost
  • Identify and implement internal processes to improve external manufacturing supply chain; working with quality, finance, accounting, marketing and product development.
  • Participate with internal manufacturing/operations team on make versus buy strategy and manufacturing network optimization.
  • Maintain a contract manufacturing database of potential suppliers across a wide range of technologies to support company goals and objectives.
  • Provide and/or assist finance with cost analysis on assigned sourcing initiatives to determine total landed cost; confirm external projects meet required business objectives for cost and margins.
  • Implement business continuity planning process to ensure uninterrupted product supply
  • Oversee cost reduction initiatives
  • Coordinate RM/Packaging purchasing and inventory based on sales forecast
  • Coordinate production schedules based on forecast and weekly needs
  • Audit supply chain and contract manufacturers to ensure product meets/exceeds standards
  • Lead raw material sourcing, pricing and ordering based on BBE R&D specifications
  • Manage Direct to Customer and Direct to Retailer fulfillment

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of contract manufacturing procurement experience preferably in the food/dietary supplement industry or consumer products related industry
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office, advanced excel skills a must
  • Demonstrated ability to work with suppliers
  • Team player with strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, financial and management skills to lead a diverse group
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must have the ability to travel up to 50%
