Job Description

  • Developing new or revised features and subsystems for Underground Switching & Protection products.

  • Using 3-D modeling to develop new parts and assemblies or revise existing parts and assemblies.

  • Creating and maintaining mechanical designs and engineering documents associated with existing and new products and being responsible for mechanical functionality of assigned projects.

  • Preparing detailed drawings used for purposes of supplier quotations, manufacturing, and final assembly.

  • Working within a team environment including interacting with other design professionals and members of the sales services, production control and assembly groups.
  • Troubleshooting complex shop problems and developing solutions to design and manufacturing related issues.

The Successful Applicant

  • A two-year degree in design or mechanical engineering technology or the equivalent experience.

  • Proficiency in the use of CAD systems, specifically 3-D modeling. Experience with Solid Edge is desired.

  • Computer literacy/proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing and model making.

  • Experience calculating spring forces, stresses and forces in mechanical subsystems.

  • Experience with Dimensioning and Tolerancing, including GD&T.

  • Good knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Good leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
