About Our Client

Our client is one of the nation's preeminent owners, operators, and managers of shopping centers. Their portfolio includes millions of square feet of attractive retail space and continues to expand as they complete additional acquisitions. The company is privately held and takes a long term approach to managing shopping centers by fostering strategic relationships with tenants, communities, partners, and investors.

Job Description

  • Total involvement with all accounting and reporting functions of assigned portfolios under management including reporting results internally and externally to lenders and investor partners
  • Beginning-to-end preparation and review of monthly GAAP based financial statements with analysis of actual to budget variances
  • Prepare monthly property reporting packages including data from legal, construction and other operations groups
  • Responsible for lender debt compliance
  • Interact with counterparts with DLC's joint venture partners in the presentation of financial reports and resulting inquiries made on reported results
  • Continuously interact with asset managers, leasing agents and property managers on portfolio properties
  • Responsible for overseeing billing and collection of tenant rents
  • Assist in the resolution of tenant billing inquiries with legal group
  • Responsible for operating account, mortgage and escrow reconciliations on portfolio properties
  • Maintain the general ledgers on assigned assets. Ability to review GL's for completeness and accuracy
  • Responsible for the preparation of year-end CAM and Real Estate Tax escalation calculations and billings
  • Participate in the preparation of annual budgets
  • Work with outside auditors to complete annual audits and tax returns including the preparation of annual financial statements and supporting footnotes
  • Assist the CFO and senior management on special projects and assignments as needed
  • Ability to transition to a supervisory role in the near future

The Successful Applicant

  • Undergraduate Accounting Degree / CPA preferred
  • Prior real estate industry experience
  • Public accounting experience a strong plus
  • Strong IT skills - MRI knowledge a strong plus
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Collaborative team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi task in a fast paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills - creative analytical problem solver
  • Confident self-starter possessed with an analytical and inquisitive mind-set
