Job Description

  • Ensuring the financial statements are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable FASB statement
  • Working with the Controller, Central Administration, as well as School departmental administrators, to operationalize new accounting standards and requirements
  • Working with the Controller to interpret requirements, design and implement an operational plan, and roll out training for SAS 115 internal control initiatives.
  • Oversee existing SAS 115 initiatives to ensure compliance with internal and external audit
  • Maintaining a strong internal control environment by ensuring compliance with existing policies; working with the Controller to implement new policies and procedures; serving as a key resource to support training and web site documentation needed to support policies
  • Managing the month-end and quarterly closing processes, including Central quarterly reconciliation and reporting requirements
  • Managing the year-end closing process, including School-wide communications and meetings; journal entry inventory, processing, review and approval; the departmental and School representation letter process; Central reporting and audit requirements
  • Ensuring the School is prepared for annual and interim audits from internal and external professional firms/agencies;
  • Addressing accounting issues and questions from both departments and other administrative groups; working with Financial Strategy and Planning to address accounting changes needed to improve and address financial reporting needs
  • Overseeing ongoing operational accounting activities, including review and submission of monthly bank account reconciliations and reconciliations of the Oracle Fixed Assets system to the General Ledger.
  • Representing the School on University committees as needed.

The Successful Applicant

  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Non-profit experience highly desired.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as experience with integrated financial application platforms (Oracle).
  • Excellent oral and written communication; strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects on deadline.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
