About Our Client

Our client is a leading supplier to the worldwide process industries with a global presence in over 200 countries.

The Senior Buyer / Senior Supply Chain Planner coordinates the purchase and delivery of assigned commodities and services in a manner that is consistent with company policies and performance goals.

Job Description

  • Purchase parts and services at best savings and value for the company and affiliates
  • Establish working partnership and good relations with suppliers
  • Maintains the integrity of purchasing data on the computer based planning system with error free transactions
  • Coordinates with suppliers to meet customer requirements and the requirements of the shop floor and ensures these requirements are clearly defined and communicated
  • Develops in conjunction with proper planning functions, inventory plans that insure inventory levels are adequate, but not excessive
  • Participates in an effective cost improvement and savings program for purchased materials and services
  • Evaluates supplier performance using the company supplier rating model, and participates in continuous improvement efforts with suppliers
  • Supports project management and selling efforts during the proposal and order processing stages
  • Develops and maintains information to keep abreast of sources, prices and technical innovations on a worldwide basis
  • Coordinates participation of key suppliers in the technical design and manufacturing process
  • Interacts with business unit and cost center personnel to affect the timely release of technical engineering data and subsequent technical engineering changes
  • Process returns to supplier and use the required documentation or RMA forms
  • Carryout ISO-9001 purchasing procedures
  • Adhere to accounting rules and procedures with respect to purchasing in terms of pricing, process, and payments
  • Manage supplier delivery performance of 95% or better on-time-delivery
  • Proactively prevent and manage supplier defects with each of the suppliers
  • Act as a back-up to other buyers that are out of the office
  • Supervise/Lead or train/mentor lower level Buyers

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in business or technical curriculum required
  • A minimum of 7 years work related experience required
  • Demonstrate broad knowledge and experience of purchasing and logistics fundamentals including solicitation of bids, negotiations, and import/export practices (a plus).
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma continuous improvement experience
  • CPSM certification or equivalent (preferred)
  • Ability to take ownership, think independently, and perform tasks with some supervision
  • Highly skilled with Microsoft office products (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel)
  • Effective teamwork, leading teams, and collaboration cross-functionally
  • Ability to assess priorities for self and others, demonstrate flexibility, and understand sense of urgency
  • Self-motivated, strong problem solving abilities, continuous improvement, and proven decision making skills
