About Our Client

My client is a fast growing manufacturer within the Natural Foods space.

Job Description

  • Managing ingredient ordering, utilizing sales and operations forecasts and inventory reports to ensure sufficient quantities are always maintained for production plans.
  • Researching and negotiating equipment and supplies pricing to fulfill internal orders
  • Coordinating all inbound logistics and work with the receiving staff to assure quality assurance of delivery and notification of receipt to accounting.
  • Maintaining organized records of purchases, terms, contracts, deliveries, and quality acceptance. Provide Accounts Payable with approval to make payments.
  • Staying current with product and vendor specifications.
  • Continuously seeking improved pricing, higher quality, superior terms, and alternate vendors to ensure the best financial result for the company.
  • Enforce purchasing processes/approvals and educate new staff on proper purchasing procedures.
  • Serve as lead on any supplier quality or invoice discrepancies.
  • Provide input and lead implementation of the purchasing modules in new ERP acquisition.
  • Track tax issues related to purchases (i.e. pass through sales tax, R&D tax qualified, user tax, etc.).
  • Participate in planning meetings that will impact purchases or vendors.
  • Maintain good vendor relationships while avoiding single source vendor situations.

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum 3 years related experience in purchasing; food industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing environment and proven process implementation skills.
  • Candidate must have strong negotiating skills.
  • College degree preferred. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Exceptional flexibility, customer service orientation, and optimistic approach to overcoming obstacles.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Word; experience using an ERP system or Quickbooks/ Fishbowl highly preferred.
  • Ability to operate independently, adapt to a changing environment, and handle multiple priorities.
