Our client is a global consumer products company that is seeking a Demand Planner / Senior Demand Planner.

Job Description

The Senior Demand Planner will be responsible for developing and maintaining a rolling 24 month SKU level forecast that consistently meets or exceeds necessary accuracy levels. The Senior Demand Planner will utilize a thorough knowledge of demand planning software to generate accurate forecasts with advanced forecasting modeling techniques. Day to day responsibilities include the following:

  • Analyze historical sales trends such as Nielsen data, POS information and internal database.
  • Lead forecast review discussion in P&L meetings with Marketing, Sales, Operation and Finance.
  • Examine the impact of marketing and customer activities including national advertising, digital, coupon, circulars, TPR's, BOGO's, BAGB's, and promotional displays.
  • Create predictive statistical models in Manugistics.
  • Generate new product forecasts based on effective utilization of multiple data inputs, including new product sizing, customer launch requirements, and post launch product performance with a 24 month time horizon.
  • Communicate a brand/category/franchise rolling 24 month RB and promotional forecast on a semi monthly basis to drive the financial reporting systems as part of the overall IBP process.
  • Provide comparative analyses detailing promotion, new and base business changes with all relevant business driver assumptions.
  • Prepare and communicate brand/franchise total business changes with all appropriate business driver assumptions.
  • Assess and communicate to Marketing, CBD, Finance and Operations any and all impact on regular business volume based on the analysis of promotional plans and overt customer actions (i.e. retailer inventory levels) using historical sales and consumption data
  • Produce reports that support a continuous analysis of actuals and developing consumption trends compared to forecasts.
  • New product models summarizing customer activities, media plans, actuals, and forecasts for both production as well as consumption.
  • Monthly brand/category bridges presenting monthly order-writing vs. forecasts for all products within a given brand.
  • Develop total gross sales forecast built from individual unit forecasts by sku that is used to drive monthly Demand Review Meetings with Executive Management, Marketing, CBD, Operations and Finance.
  • Responsible for utilizing forecast models & techniques to improve forecast accuracy. Work with Business Process Director as appropriate to develop new systems to support modeling and flexibility for rapid change capabilities.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business or related field.
  • 5+ years of demand planning and forecasting experience within a Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry
  • Detailed knowledge of supply chain processes based on experience within a CPG company
  • Ability to manage the development of multi category sku level forecasts for regular business and special events.
  • Experience utilizing demand planning software solutions as well as spreadsheet/database applications for creating forecasting models and statistical analyses.
  • Strong leadership and consensus management.
  • Critical thinking skills required to analyze and interpret large volumes of data for developing fact-based business assumptions to influence consensus through effective communication.
  • Experience with Manugistics and/or SAP preferred.
