Job Description

Key Job Responsibilities:

Reinsurance Accounting and Reporting:

  • Completely and accurately calculate and prepare all monthly reinsurance premium, commission, claim and claim expense payment and reserve transactions; and related schedules and exhibits.
  • Ensure the Global reinsurance system is updated periodically as required for all new treaties and/or changes in existing reinsurance treaties. Ensure Reinsurance system tables and queries are updated for each new treaty year. Ensure validation of all calculations.
  • Submit all such schedules, exhibits, reports and supporting workpapers to the Regional Controller for review and approval by established deadlines.
  • Completely and accurately compile, enter and balance all reinsurance Balance Sheet and P&L transactions to the Freedom PTE general ledger and related sub-ledgers. Ensure all reinsurance cash settlements are recorded timely and accurately in Freedom PTE.
  • Prepare and submit all monthly reinsurance Balance Sheet and P&L account (source to general ledger) reconciliations to the Regional Controller for review and approval. Ensure reconciliations are complete and accurate at the account, line of business, treaty and reinsurer level.
  • Complete all quarterly and annual Schedule F exhibits on a monthly basis to ensure efficiency and effective completion of such exhibits by established regulatory deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with all Statutory reinsurance accounting and reporting requirements.

The Successful Applicant

The Ideal Sr. Reinsurance Accountant Candidate's Profile would include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and independently, and to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and multi-task.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organization, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office software programs, including Word, Excel, and Access. Knowledge of Freedom Reinsurance software a plus.
