Job Description

The Transportation Manager will be responsible to manage all aspects of transportation operations for the Consumer Healthcare division within North America. The Transportation Manager will be responsible for carrier sourcing and selection, Third Party Logistics (3PL) Management, budget and service level achievement. Day to day responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop and implement transportation strategy for manufacturing sites, distribution centers, contract manufacturers, display and packaging, and customer freight
  • Establish & maintain senior level relationships with key Service Providers to include carriers, freight payment, security, 3PL, and other providers
  • Develop and own transportation budget and monthly P&L analysis reporting to Supply Chain Leadership.
  • Develop and implement cost savings initiatives
  • Develops strategy for the consumer transportation operations center (TOC) consisting of 7 contract associates. Ensure tactical execution of TOC to support strategy.
  • Manage carrier and customer service performance KPIs (On Time Delivery). Ensure KPIs are met or exceeded
  • Work closely with procurement and carriers to negotiate all Freight Rates
  • Establish strategy and deliverables for 3rd party freight payment provider
  • Ensure compliance with all internal and external regulatory requirements
  • Develop relationships with internal customers to include manufacturing sites, contract manufacturers, etc.
  • Internal Champion for Business Initiatives - Product Launches, Projects

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • 5 - 10 years of relevant experience in managing a transportation function
  • Detailed knowledge of warehousing, transportation, and customer management
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and problem solving ability
  • Direct experience in budget development and delivery
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of trucking industry regulations, FDA requirements, DEA requirements and other government regulations applicable to the supply chain
