My client is a Massachusetts based regional bank, with $8.5 billion dollars in deposits. They have tripled in size over the past twelve years and plan to continue with this impressive growth. They have no future plans to be acquired and intend to remain stable and independent for the foreseeable future.

Job Description

Reporting directly into the Bank's Financial Controller, the role will provide technical accounting support to finance and business partners by interpreting new and existing accounting guidance as they relate to current and potential business activities, significant and/or non-routine transactions, and other events. Main duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Monitoring the activities of all accounting standard setting bodies including, but not limited to the SEC, FASB, AICPA, EITF, and Bank Regulators (i.e. OCC, and FDIC).
  • Assess the financial statement impact of changes, and potential changes, to accounting guidance.
  • Preparing comprehensive whitepapers for complex issues, transactions, and accounting guidance assessments.
  • Ensuring that finance and business partners are informed of significant changes or potential changes.
  • Providing support in the implementation of changes to the Bank's accounting policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Maintaining and creating new accounting policy manuals, and ensure new pronouncements are reflected in the manuals in a timely manner.
  • Administering the accounting system for acquired loans ensuring the accuracy of assumptions and data used, and reconciliation to corresponding systems.
  • Developing and reports purchased loan analytics to finance and business partners.
  • Participating in activities associated with business combinations and certain system conversions and other special projects.
  • Serving as a resource to field accounting questions and documents business activities within auditing standards.
  • Providing accounting and documentation support to accounting department and lines of business, and being responsible for maintaining certain complex general ledger accounts.
  • Participating in internal, external and regulatory audits, and other accounting related activities as necessary.
