About Our Client

Our client is a well established development company that has been part of developing Billions of dollars worth of commercial real estate. They are currently undertaking a new project that is going to be of substantial size and are looking for a candidate with in depth experience in large scale commercial mixed-use developments. For this position a background in General Contracting or on the Development side of the business is necessary and the ability to show a project history that is relevant.

Job Description

The Vice President of Construction- Mixed-Use Large Development will:

Conduct site visits to monitor the progress of construction, review status of work completed during the period covered, review that work is generally proceeding in a good and workmanlike manner and in general accordance with the approved drawings and specifications.

Review contractors' direct cost payment requisitions and budget status, review of subcontracts, bonds/subcontractor default insurance, review of change orders, review of Developer's monthly Job Cost Reports, review of construction and disbursement schedules, review of lien waiver and other documentation submitted by the Developer.

Prepare Project Status Reports and recommend the release of construction funds.

Manages and leads project management staff in the market and ensures thorough staff understanding and implementation of operations, policies, and procedures. Formally supervises individual employees and/or subordinate supervisors. Responsible for identifying tracking performance, coaching, training needs, and motivating direct reports and work group. Directly or indirectly responsible for hiring, terminating, compensation, and performance evaluation for direct reports and work group.

Identify and evaluate the organizational requirements for staffing and management, finances, client relationship management, and image. Work with management and client teams to develop a vision and strategic plan to lead and guide the organization.

Implement measures, processes and resource plans (financial and FTEs) to govern and ensure effective performance and to control risks to the client, the business and the organization.

Plan and prepare a comprehensive budget for business and team to secure adequate funding for the operation of the organization.

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience working at the Senior Project Management level working for either a general contractor or developer
  • Ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the Charlotte area with building and construction projects
  • Attention to detail and experience managing younger staff
  • Relevant project portfolio in large scale commercial work though other types of projects may be considered depending on experience
