About Our Client

Our client is a leading food manufacturing company.

This role will be challenged to build and implement a world class Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) process across the enterprise to improve customer satisfaction, profitability, inventory turns, working capital usage, and obsolescence.

The role will partner with the Sales, Marketing, and Finance leadership to ensure the demand development process delivers an agreed upon, workable volume forecast (near, mid and long terms)while ensuring gaps and overlaps are addressed, scenarios are completed, and issues appropriately escalated to meet business objectives.

Job Description

  • Develop and maintain: 1) demand plans that reflect the expected shipments of products from distribution points and reflect all promotion/event calendars, and 2) master plans that meet defined demand plans in a least cost fashion while achieving service objectives
  • Develop and maintain finished goods inventory plans that meet defined demand plans and master plans, as well as corporate working capital goals
  • Develop, communicate, and select the best master plans that consider the trade-offs among inventory (materials and finished goods), selected costs (changeover, ordering, other), productive capacity, storage, and service
  • Support the SIOP process with analysis, input, options, and recommendations
  • Measure and report key supply chain metrics that relate to master planning inclusive of production, inventory, service, schedule adherence, and schedule attainment performance
  • Manage day-to-day operations issues that arise in a fashion consistent with demand plans and master plans (inclusive of inventory and service objectives) with the assistance of the Demand Planners, Master Planners, the Master Data Management team, Sales and Marketing teams, Plant Managers, and Plant Schedulers
  • Managing and providing direction for all demand planning and master planning activities in support of SIOP and Supply Chain Planning activities
  • Ensure demand plans are well-constructed and thoroughly vetted with the Sales and Marketing teams in the context of the defined monthly cycle meeting structures for the SIOP process
  • Work with teams (commercial/other) that and individuals that address promotions, events, timing, and customer activities that impact the volume and distribution of demand at all levels of the product hierarchy
  • Ensure weekly-bucketed and monthly-bucketed master plans directly support approved demand plans developed within the SIOP process
  • Work with teams and individuals that address production, capacity planning, finished goods procurement from co-packers, and material procurement (MRP driven by master plans)
  • Support SIOP consistent with the defined meeting structures and process, master data, business rules/policies, and planning applications
  • Implement and enhance the demand plan and master plan reporting tools that communicate results and metricsand highlight areas for improvement
  • Work with supply chain and technology vendor consultants to fully implement and leverage JDE and the Demand Planning/Master Planning applications for use in demand planning, master planning, and inventory planning

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
  • Broad-based knowledge of master planning, capacity planning, trade-off analysis, and plant detailed scheduling, as reflected in a minimum of 10-15 years of experience-with a leadership role in supply chain planning or S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning)
  • Food or relevant process industry experience is a must have
  • A well-versed understanding of demand planning and master planning processes and the associated systems applications and metrics
  • Prior implementation experience for tier 1 demand planning and master planning applications is a must
  • Ability to lead and work in cross-functional and multi-location teams
  • Organized, detail-oriented, process centric, and forward planning skills
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with management and staff in other functional areas
