About Our Client

Our client is an international firm that is has recently been in a rapid growth phase with a number of acquisitions. The VP of Sales; Life Sciences will be a new position to consolidate the varied businesses to one unified approached with a focus on transitioning the business from a relationship/ account management sales strategy to one that is much more KPI focused. They are targeting a VP of Sales that will shift the culture to a more entrepreneurial standard. Candidates with previous experiences shifting a sales team from gatherers to hunters will be preferred.

As this life sciences firm continues its growth, they continue to seek top sales management talent for this current VP of Sales opportunity and are currently looking for a VP of Sales; Life Sciences. We will look to you to you, as a sales leader, to help continue the growth of the business. As the VP of Sales ; Life Sciences vertical, based in one of our many national sales offices, you will provide leadership and support to a team of outside sales consultants in local markets they represent in remote markets across the US, CAN, and MEX. These sales consultants are focused on generating new business within the life sciences industry, maintaining our customer base and increasing our market share in a highly consultative environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage sales consultant pipeline to ensure team is at or above quota at all times
  • Analyze quality of prospective clients with sales consultants to proactively deliver monthly, quarterly and annual quota
  • Monitor team performance, provide ongoing feedback and apply clear, consistent performance standards aligned with plan goals
  • Understand the company, the market, the Life Sciences Industry and the competition.
  • Leverage financial understanding the company's value proposition to ensure service fee revenue strength that withstands competitive bids
  • Develop and implements quarterly and annual business plans
  • Demonstrate deep level of understanding of firm's book of business and current sales cycle
  • Accurately forecast prospective clients within the life sciences vertical to achieve targeted worksite employee goals and revenue targets agreed with the C-Level team.
  • Validate pipeline by assessing early-stage leads.
  • Demonstrate a strong external focus including external industry involvement to influence direction and build the firm's reputation in the life sciences vertical market.
  • Share important information and ideas with key stakeholders using effective methods and channels in a timely manner.
  • Cascade company and departmental information appropriately and shares information that is actionable and meaningful.
  • Foster co-operation, communication and commitment among team. Encourage collaboration within and across organizational boundaries.
  • Anticipate and resolve conflicts and remove barriers to success.
  • Establish mechanism to ensure optimal level of teamwork by valuing contributions, and encouraging accountability.
  • Acts as key player in managing corporate change initiatives. Initiates and drives constructive corporate, organization and/or work group changes.

The Successful Applicant

Experience:

  • Minimum 10-15 years' management experience required
  • Experience leading a remotely based sales team
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in consultative sales
  • Minimum 5 years of B2B sales experience required
  • Experience working in or selling to the Life Sciences Industry
  • Prior experience selling in one of the following industries: Filtration, Membranes, Lab Products, Disposables, etc.
  • PEO industry experience preferred; Human Capital Management industry experience a plus
