The Accounting Manager supports the Controller and oversees day‑to‑day back‑office accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls. This role partners closely with finance leadership to support audits, payroll funding, and financial operations across multiple programs.

Job Description

  • Oversee and perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage accounts receivable processes, including contract advances and cash receipts.
  • Coordinate accounts payable and credit card expense allocations.
  • Support and maintain strong internal control processes.
  • Prepare fiscal year‑end schedules and documentation for external auditors.
  • Support payroll operations, including funding needs and data entry.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc requests from finance leadership.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of not‑for‑profit general ledger accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
  • Strong working knowledge of not‑for‑profit GAAP and audit preparation.
  • Experience in a non‑profit organization or public accounting with non‑profit clients.
  • Proven ability to manage a small team and priorities multiple deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
  • Experience with general ledger systems; Sage Intacct for Non‑profits preferred.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to communicate effectively across team
