One of my top clients, a leading manufacturing company, is seeking a Accounting Project Director due to massive growth within the last few years. Located near Franklin Park, IL (2 days in office), they are the world's second largest producer of equipment in their niche with offices in 150 nations and is showing no signs of slowing down.

The Accounting Project Director will manage and oversee intricate accounting projects within the organization, ensuring compliance with both US GAAP and IFRS standards. This position plays a crucial role in shaping accounting strategy, overseeing major projects, and maintaining precise financial reporting throughout the organization.

Job Description

  • Lead the transition from US GAAP to IFRS, ensuring regulatory compliance and seamless adoption across business units.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex accounting issues, manage risks, and coordinate with auditors and regulators.
  • Oversee IFRS implementation and other key accounting projects, ensuring timely execution within budget.
  • Apply project management best practices to drive team accountability and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and implement change management strategies to support IFRS adoption.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, train teams, and foster acceptance of new accounting standards.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting under IFRS, maintain strong internal controls, and coordinate with external auditors to meet compliance requirements.
  • Partner with finance, IT, and leadership to align IFRS transition with broader organizational goals.
  • Optimize financial systems for enhanced reporting efficiency.
  • Mentor and develop accounting teams, providing training on IFRS and best practices to ensure a smooth transition and continuous improvement.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Experience/familiarity with IFRS
  • Higher education credentials preferred
  • Minimum 9+ years in accounting with expertise in US GAAP, IFRS, and project management.
  • Strong ERP (SAP), data analytics, and advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Experience cross-collaborating with other departments/teams
