About Our Client

Our client is a well-established Fortune 200, global leader in their field. With more than $30 Billion in revenue, my client has 20+ subsidiaries across the globe. They are seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee and direct all Accounting and Finance operations in North America.

As the Assistant Controller, you will lead a team of 4, taking complete ownership of building, coaching, and developing a high-potential team. The Assistant Controller will have full autonomy, with the continued support of the Global Controller and CFO to pursue process improvement initiatives that will strategically maximize Account and Finance potential.

A successful Assistant Controller will have experience owning the month-end close, previous experience managing a team, and be comfortable regularly presenting to and partnering with C-Suite executives. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to be an influential leader of a team, regularly work with C-Suite executives, and be a change agent implementing new directives to that will impact the global organization.

Job Description

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all Accounting operational functions for North America
  • Responsible for periodic close processes: month, quarterly, and year-end close
  • Ensure compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations.
  • Provide periodic analysis of financial statements
  • Prepare and consolidation of financial statements
  • Improve upon and establish new internal controls, processes and procedures
  • Oversee a team of 4 (three Senior Staff Accountants and 1 Staff Accountant)
  • Serve as liaison to external auditors and tax advisors
  • Lead, coach and develop the Accounting team

The Successful Applicant

In return for a competitive compensation package, the ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Previous experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or in a similar role.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • CPA or MBA is a MUST - you will be the #2 Accounting and Finance lead for North America
  • Consolidations experience is a plus
  • Experience working in a large, global organization
  • Ability to research and adhere to all aspects of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent leadership skills and prior management experience - you will lead a team of 4
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
