Job Description

The Assistant Superintendent will work under the direction of the Project Superintendent and will play a key role in coordinating and supervising the day-to-day activities on the construction site. This position requires a hands-on approach, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the construction process. The ideal candidate will have experience in multifamily construction and possess strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Site Supervision: Assist the Project Superintendent in managing and overseeing the daily operations of the construction site, ensuring work is progressing according to schedule.


  • Team Coordination: Help supervise and direct subcontractors, laborers, and other personnel on site, ensuring compliance with safety standards, quality controls, and project specifications.


  • Quality Control: Conduct regular site inspections to ensure that the work is being completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.


  • Safety Management: Enforce company and OSHA safety regulations on the job site, conducting daily safety meetings and ensuring the site remains compliant with safety standards.


  • Schedule Management: Assist with tracking project schedules, ensuring that tasks are completed on time, and addressing any delays or issues that arise in coordination with the Project Superintendent.


  • Material Management: Help monitor inventory of materials and equipment on site, ensuring the proper use, delivery, and storage of construction materials and tools.


  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to job site activities, including daily logs, progress reports, and any other necessary paperwork.


  • Problem Solving: Address issues that arise on the job site promptly, working with the team and subcontractors to find solutions while maintaining project timelines and quality standards.


  • Client Relations: Assist with maintaining good communication with the client, design team, and other stakeholders, ensuring that the project meets their expectations and needs.

The Successful Applicant



  • Experience: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in construction, with a focus on multifamily or commercial projects. Previous experience as a Foreman or in a similar supervisory role is preferred.


  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction processes, methods, and building codes. Familiarity with LEED standards and sustainable building practices is a plus.


  • Education: A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required. Relevant experience may be substituted for educational requirements.


  • Skills:


    • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.


    • Strong organizational and time management skills.


    • Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend) and Microsoft Office Suite.


    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


  • Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour certification preferred. First Aid/CPR certification is a plus.
