Our client for the Automotive Sales Director - Automation Systems opportunity is with a global manufacturer and leader of industrial automation and measurement solutions. This company specializes in hardware and software related to test, measurement and calibration. With over 50 locations in over 30 countries, they have a strong global footprint partnering with automotive OEMs and Tier customers. The organization is in high growth mode globally with the US as a high potential market and looks to continue to grow organically and through acquisition.The Automotive Sales Director - Automation Systems opportunity is a highly visible role reporting to the Global Head of Sales based in Europe. This person will lead a team of Sales professionals in the US and work with the Global Head of Sales and executive leadership team to define and execute the US sales strategy. The Automotive Sales Director - Automation Systems will focus on automotive OEM and Tier customers selling custom designed and manufactured high precision, high speed machinery. This person should be located in the Metro Detroit area preferrable, or near a Major Airport - Midwest Region preferred.

  • Along with the Head of Global Sales develop and execute the sales strategy for the US region
  • Manage current existing customer relationships in order to grow and expand accounts from the corporate level
  • Work cross functionally with other business unit sales teams and leaders to upsell and cross sell to existing customers
  • Foster the relationships with key customer decision makers and network with related groups to foster complete alignment and agreement in the overall strategy and advocate for both sides to gain agreement that the direction is mutually beneficial to both companies.
  • Work with customers and internal cross functional teams of product development and specifications that meet customers needs
  • Work and challenge the sales team and internal organization to think outside of the box to ensure efficiencies and strategies are in line with company goals
  • Travel with sales team to provide mentoring, training, development and support to win business and help sales team overcome challenges
  • Report sales activity through CRM system managing sales pipeline, expense reports, sales activities, market trends
  • Ability to travel 50% to customers

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering (preferred)
  • 5-10 years of experience in automotive sales within automation, vision systems preferred
  • 3 years of sales management experience leading a sales team
  • Proven sales track record selling technical products and systems - automation, machinery, complex systems
  • Highly motivated with a strong sense of work ethic and drive to succeed
  • Experience developing and implementing a sales strategy
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen and negotiation skills
  • Strong ability to multi-task and highly organized
  • Strong technical knowledge regarding automation, software, hardware, electronics
  • In depth knowledge of manufacturing processes within automotive
  • Prior experience working for an international company highly preferred

What's on Offer

Base salary - $150,000 - $170,000, Bonus - 20%, Car allowance $1,000 a month, phone, computer, full benefits, 401K, vacation, etc.
