Job Description

  • Cost Estimation:
    • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects based on plans, specifications, and site conditions.
    • Specialize in estimating costs for civil sitework, including excavation, grading, drainage, utilities, and paving.
    • Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.

  • Bid Preparation:
    • Develop comprehensive and competitive bid proposals for civil sitework and other construction projects.
    • Review and interpret project drawings and specifications to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate.

  • Supplier and Subcontractor Coordination:
    • Solicit and review bids from suppliers and subcontractors, particularly those specializing in civil sitework.
    • Evaluate bids to ensure accuracy and completeness, selecting the best value options for the project.

  • Budget Management:
    • Assist in the preparation of project budgets and schedules, with a focus on civil sitework components.
    • Monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.

  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and organized records of estimates, proposals, and project costs.
    • Prepare and present detailed cost reports and estimates to project managers and stakeholders.

  • Risk Assessment:
    • Identify potential risks and challenges associated with project estimates, particularly in civil sitework, and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Provide insight and recommendations for cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions

The Successful Applicant

Describe the Successful Civil Estimator:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, with a strong focus on civil sitework.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and labor costs, especially in civil sitework.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools, with excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
