Our client is a large non-profit organization devoted to animal conservation, and conservation of the ecosystems they live in.

Job Description

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all policies and procedures follow an organization's compliance program. Follow up on those policies/procedures to ensure they will result in compliance.
  • Continually monitor the compliance program and execute risk assessments to ensure policies and procedures are followed.
  • Recommend investigative action to any alleged violations where applicable.
  • Communicate with legal and regulatory teams on compliance-related items.
  • Verify all existing and developing federal, state, and international laws/regulations are complied with.
  • Develop, execute, and update the organization's Compliance and Ethic Program Plan.
  • Evaluate all compliance programs and elicit any changes or improvements.
  • Report any misconduct or noncompliance, and make sure there is a path for reporting, and protections from retaliation.



In addition to your role as Compliance Officer, you will also assume the duties as Corporate Secretary to the Board of Directors.

The Successful Applicant

The Compliance Officer candidate should have a strong understanding of the international non-profits sector, as well as national and international regulations guiding it.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with excellent academic credentials
  • 5-10 years of experience in compliance through consulting, non-profit, financial services, or a comparable industry
  • Experience working cross-functionally and collaborate across multiple lines of business
  • Knowledge of laws relating to animal conservation, and conservation related activities
  • Candidate is able to commute to the NYC office on a hybrid schedule



Preferred Qualifications:

  • JD from a top US ABA accredited law school
  • Candidate possess the following certifications- CCEP, CPA, or Certified Internal Auditor
