Job Description

A Concrete Superintendent plays a vital leadership role in construction projects involving concrete work. Their key responsibilities include:

1. Project Oversight:
Manages all aspects of on-site concrete operations, including planning, scheduling, and execution. Ensures the work aligns with project specifications, blueprints, and deadlines.

2. Crew Supervision:
Leads and directs concrete crews and subcontractors. Assigns tasks, monitors productivity, and ensures quality and safety standards are met on the job site.

3. Quality Control:
Oversees the installation of formwork, reinforcement, placement, finishing, and curing of concrete. Ensures all work meets engineering specifications and industry standards.

4. Safety Compliance:
Enforces strict safety protocols and conducts regular site inspections to minimize hazards and maintain OSHA compliance.

5. Coordination & Communication:
Collaborates with project managers, engineers, and other trades to ensure smooth workflow. Communicates daily progress, issues, and needs to leadership and stakeholders.

6. Material & Equipment Management:
Coordinates delivery and use of concrete, tools, and machinery. Ensures equipment is properly maintained and materials are used efficiently.

7. Documentation & Reporting:
Maintains accurate records of labor, materials, inspections, and incidents. Submits daily reports and contributes to project documentation and scheduling updates.

8. Problem Solving:
Quickly identifies and resolves issues in the field, including weather delays, material shortages, or design discrepancies.

A successful candidate for this role is an experienced and driven construction professional with at least 5 years of superintendent experience, specifically in concrete construction. They have a strong background across multiple disciplines of concrete work, including foundations, flatwork, structural concrete, and sitework. Their diverse experience allows them to confidently manage complex job sites and coordinate with various trades to ensure quality and efficiency.

This individual is highly proficient in construction technology, with hands-on experience using Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office to manage documentation, project schedules, and communication. They are organized, detail-oriented, and able to effectively track progress and troubleshoot issues in real time.
