Michael Page has partnered with one of Chicago's top General Contracting firms. Established over 40 years ago, this GC is a mid-sized GC firm who focuses on commercial, multifamily and retail projects. They offer enormous growth potential as they are looking to bring in talented construction professionals to fill out their team. Priding themselves on their diverse projects, they have managed to implement a portfolio that has led to national recognition. They focus on medium scale industrial projects up to $20M, with an extremely strong forecast of projects in the Chicago-land area in coming years.

Job Description

  • Establish and maintain working professional relationships with the project design team, company field and office personnel, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Lead the preparation of construction documents
  • Administer contracts with owner, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Manage value engineering efforts
  • Prepare and process all paperwork and documents to owner, project design team and subcontractors in a timely and complete manner
  • Ensure compliance with construction permits
  • Prepare and maintain project schedule and budgets, communicating changes to project personnel as needed
  • Review, approve, and process draw requests and payments to suppliers and subcontractors
  • Work with owner in transitioning the project from construction to residential operations.
  • Address all project completion and warranty issues and prepare final close-out documentation
  • Manage budget and financial reporting
  • Interpret and analyze reports to ensure adherence to project budget.
  • Manage the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program.

The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of experience as a project manager with a general contractor or developer
  • Commercial, multifamily and retail construction experience is preferred
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management or a related field is a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to work in a fast paced work environment
  • Detail oriented
  • Good time management skills
  • Ground up experience is preferred
  • Proven ability to deliver construction projects on time and on budget
  • Must be able to work in a multiple-project environment
  • Ability to read and understand plans
  • Desire to travel throughout the country for projects
  • Technical understanding of residential construction including building codes, trade sequencing, and best building practices
  • Capable of problem solving and experience with complex detailed projects
  • Work with subcontractors, suppliers, utilities, city inspectors, organize and direct activities concerned with their construction projects
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, performance, and quality standards within boundaries of company policy and contract specifications
  • Monitor and control project through managing the construction schedule and directing subcontractors and suppliers to ensure project is completed on schedule and within budget
  • Investigate potentially serious situations, anticipate project delays, monitor job site safety, and implement corrective measures
