The Controller will oversee the Financial aspects of a mixed-use portfolio of office, retail, and residential buildings. This position will report directly in the Owner of the company and will be on site 4-5 days per week. If interested, please read on and apply to the Controller - Real Estate job based in Boston, MA.Job DescriptionThe Controller -Real Estate will be responsible for the following:Overall accounting responsibility for the portfolio and operating entitiesManage the payroll component of human resources, process paychecks, maintain compensation historyCash Management. Bank reconciliations, advise on partner distributions and capital calls. Manage multiple bank accounts, including ensuring necessary funds for expenditures such as mortgage payments and real estate tax. Facilitate bank transfers by preparing, reviewing, and requesting approval. Makes physical and electronic bank depositsMaintain an effective system of internal financial controlsAssist with creation and review of cash flows, projections and budgetsMaintain schedules supporting balance sheet accounts including mortgage statements reconciliations, capital schedules, and bank reconciliationsPrepare monthly financial statements and variance reports, providing explanations for significant variancesUpdate, maintain and enforce accounting policies and proceduresLiaison for outsourced relationships including but not limited to bankers, insurance agents, auditors, tax accountants, lenders, and investorsReview and approve invoices for payment and provide daily/weekly A/P reporting, process checks, make online payments, and facilitate wires.Responsible for the month end closing process and Journal entries into Yardi PremiereMonitor debt service information including amortization schedules, reporting requirements, statements, and paymentResponsible for year-end operating expense and real estate tax reconciliationsInput, verify and post charges to tenants and clientsEstablishes new vendor set ups and verification's, as applicable ensuring all important information for vendors is input consistently, accurately and with detailMonitor tenant compliance, rent collection status, notify tenants of delinquency concernsProcess year end 1099's and bad debt write-offsPerforms tenant account adjustment entries when requiredCompiles monthly and annual investor and owner reportsVerifies all month end accounting is closed and new month is opened timelyCompletes all required requisitions for mortgage, insurance, etc.Refund tenant deposits after verifying tenant ledger is accurateManages payroll, benefits administration, worker's comp insurance audits and claimsProcess City of Boston annual expense and tenant rent schedules for all properties to maintain abatement filingsBook Monthly Management FeesManage general ledger and trial balance to ensure accuracyAttend weekly company meetings and report on finance/accounting related mattersBe a technology, Yardi Premiere expert and implement effective, streamlined accounting processesMPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law.
