Job Description

  • Monitor and manage project budgets to ensure costs remain within approved limits.
  • Review and analyze expenses including labor, materials, and subcontractor invoices.
  • Develop and maintain detailed cost reports and forecasts for ongoing projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers to address and resolve budget variances.
  • Track changes in project scope and their impact on the budget.
  • Review and approve purchase orders and change orders to align with budget constraints.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports for stakeholders.
  • Work with the finance team to ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition.
  • Conduct cost risk analyses and recommend strategies for mitigation.
  • Support bid proposal preparation, including cost estimations and budget forecasts.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in cost control or financial management within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency with project management and accounting software (e.g., Procore, Sage, or similar).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of both commercial and railroad construction projects is a plus.
