About Our Client

This family-owned property management and development firm is located in the heart of Chicago, and focuses on multi-family and hospitality projects throughout the Chicagoland. They are a leader in the development world, and have been extensively growing for over 30 years. They are seeking a Director of Construction to come on board and solely manage large projects, starting with a $95M hotel in the downtown area. This Director will have complete autonomy on their projects, and in return receive a top salary with unmatched benefits.

The Director of Construction is responsible for:

  • Manages, oversees and coordinates architectural and design services and tasks
  • Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinate managers
  • Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements
  • Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates and reviews project management activities with regard to design and construction Resolves complex, design and construction project related issues, disputes, and disagreements
  • Being sole person responsible on-site
  • Working directly with architects day to day
  • Working with budget given by President
  • Help choose the narrative of the project and be part of the decision-making process for choosing the correct general contractor for the project

The Successful Applicant

  • Extensive experience with managing and overseeing development of design guidelines, planning, programming, design development and construction documents
  • 10+ years of experience in Project Management of multiple design and construction projects; experience within multi-family/ hospitality projects required
  • BA or BS in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or a closely related field.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Experience with Microsoft platforms, and reading blueprints
  • CCM, LEED, or PMP certifications preferred
