Job Description

The Director of Engineering will lead and drive the firms engineering teams to success. In this role, you will oversee the development and implementation of innovative solutions, ensuring alignment with our product roadmap and business goals. This person will report into the CTO and handle the following:

  • Lead and manage distributed engineering teams of 40+ engineers across multiple geographies and time zones, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Oversee the architecture, development, and deployment of scalable, high-quality software solutions using Java, React, Kubernetes, and AWS.
  • Establish and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and development processes, ensuring adherence to Kanban, Scrum, or other agile methodologies.
  • Implement rigorous testing and deployment practices to maintain high standards of quality and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain robust processes for tracking and reporting key metrics, including service-level agreements (SLAs), performance, and quality, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Act as a key communicator and liaison between engineering and other departments, such as product, marketing, and customer support, ensuring alignment and effective collaboration.
  • Work with HR and the CTO to identify hiring needs, recruit top engineering talent, and build a strong, capable team.
  • Balance short-term project needs with long-term goals, ensuring timely delivery of projects and continuous improvement of processes and solutions

The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of experience leading distributed/overseas engineering teams across multiple geographies and time zones.
  • Proven track record of leading teams of engineers.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with Java, React, Kubernetes, and AWS (or equivalent technologies).
  • Extensive experience with Kanban, Scrum, or other agile methodologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
