Description

The Director of Planning and Purchasing will own bringing the supply chain vision to life by developing a framework consisting of systems, processes and controls that the organization can successfully operate within.

  • Establish a robust Sales and Operations Planning process that enables the multi-functional organization to provide accurate and timely information
  • Move organization for short term forecasting to rolling 12 month
  • Develop tracking tools to measure forecast accuracy and changes month over month
  • Maintain list of Below the Line risks and opportunities and work with sales to ensure plan is balanced
  • Assign SKU ranking and ensure we are consistently healthy on A ranked materials
  • Setup planning parameters for all materials
  • Manage inventory levels to ensure we are within limits and work closely with sales to find outlets for excess and obsolete inventory
  • Play key role in developing planning tools within ERP
  • Lead key supplier negotiations and drive year over year cost savings
  • Develop pipeline of qualified suppliers on key materials
  • Manage supplier scorecards and ensure on time delivery of materials
  • Root cause and action plan against key metrics, including On Time Delivery, Inventory, Cost Savings and Forecast Accuracy.
  • Oversee team and provide guidance and support on daily basis
  • Manage special projects as needed
  • Any additional responsibility deemed necessary by management

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, or related field
  • Or Equivalent Experience Experience:
  • 5-7 years related experience in Supply Chain
  • Experience in a supply or demand role
  • Very strong excel skills required
  • Familiar with key S&OP principles
  • Experience developing processes ground up and being a change agent
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to present complex information to senior leadership and obtain alignment
  • Ability to lead conversations with suppliers and drive savings
  • Experience working in an ERP system Skills and abilities:
  • Possess excellent leadership & teamwork abilities
  • Open to personal development and growth
  • Ability to break from statue quo and drive step change
  • Work independently
  • Analytical Skills - need to be able to identify areas of low efficiency and work to provide improvements.
  • Good human relations and oral/written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
  • Demonstrated ability to learn, follow and help refine procedures with minimal oversight
  • Strong analytical / problem solving skills
  • Works creatively and effectively and adopts hands-on focus - including managing subordinates interactively on a daily basis
  • Self-starter with willingness to expand expertise and skill base
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
