Job Description

  • Lead and oversee all preconstruction activities, including budgeting, estimating, scheduling, and project planning.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and cost models from conceptual through detailed design stages.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, and engineers to align design intent with budget and constructability goals.
  • Oversee the estimating team, ensuring accurate quantity takeoffs, pricing, and value engineering options.
  • Drive project strategy and risk assessment during the preconstruction phase to support informed decision-making.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with trade partners and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and reliable input.
  • Lead preconstruction meetings and presentations, effectively communicating project scope, cost, and schedule strategies.
  • Implement preconstruction best practices and process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and collaboration.
  • Partner with operations and project management teams to ensure seamless project handoff into construction.
  • Provide executive-level reporting and forecasting on preconstruction progress, budgets, and pipeline activity.

The Successful Applicant

  • 5+ years of experience working in the commercial construction industry as Director of Preconstruction
  • Strong understanding of light industrial, commercial interiors, and/or healthcare construction
  • Strong familiarity and experience in Business Development
  • Ability to estimate work as needed and lead a team of other estimators
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
