About Our Client

The primary responsibility of this position is to lead and manage the Quality and Food Safety team for a global food & nutrition manufacturer. This role will report to the VP of Quality & Food Safety and oversee a team of 15+ individuals.

Description

  • Oversees site level execution as well as business unit wide strategic direction
  • This includes monitoring and communication of KPIs, overseeing the project execution for improvement, and determining the direction of processes and procedures related to food safety and quality
  • Develop food safety compliance strategy to align with with local, city, state and federal requirements
  • Coordinate cross functional departments to achieve food safety and quality objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other directors to maximize compliance, product reliability and minimize costs
  • Lead and motivate a team of Food Safety and Quality Assurance Managers, senior managers and supervisors
  • Validate and verify the adherence of sites to HACCP plans and ensure compliance with all company FSQA requirements
  • Direct the development and implementation of corporate Food Safety and Quality Assurance plans
  • Champion continuous improvement within the teams, driving FSQA KPIs
  • Act as the primary contact for high-impact food safety and quality issues experienced by the company and industry
  • Provide the leadership team with updates on KPIs, projects and team dynamics



The Successful Applicant

  • The ideal candidate must be able to convey extensive experience in the food or pharmaceutical industries
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required as this person must work effectively across multiple functions and levels of the organization
  • B.A. or B.S. degree required in a food science related field
  • More than 10 years of experience in quality assurance/quality control methodology and processes, food safety plans, and Quality Management Systems
  • Knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated, organized; record of driving change and building internal and external relationships
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead, coach, build consensus and lead change among a team of production/sales/QFS colleagues
  • Experience implementing and maintaining quality processes in off-site support function
